To cooperate with the Holy Spirit in following and advancing the mission of Christ as we live true to our best in Him each day. (My Soul Purpose)

I came across this scripture in Mark 14:50-52 while walking, listening to scripture. It jumped out in my spirit: verse 50 reads, “Then they all forsook Him and fled” (NKJV). These were the disciples that were with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. In verse 51 it reads, “Now, a certain man followed Him, having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body. And the young men laid hold of him.” Verse 52 reads, “And he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.”

The nakedness of this young man represents our shame, failure, and abandonment. Just as Jesus was wrapped in linen when removed from the cross of Calvary. Imagine Jesus taking the garment of shame from us and the young man. In Mark 16:1-8, we experience the resurrection of Christ. Here the young man wore no linen cloth-he was wearing a white robe. Could it be that Jesus gave His garment of glory to the same young man in John 14?

If I can prick your spiritual imagination, the garment of shame of the young man was buried with Jesus. Jesus’ garment of glory restores the young man. Think of it as the rehabilitation of the failed disciple, the naked shamed one is clothed and this with the clothing of glory of his Master, while Jesus takes on the clothing of shame and grabs the failed follower (disciple) and gives him the Promise of HOPE.

If we follow Jesus, we have that HOPE. The shame of our failures is exchanged for the brilliance of Jesus’ glory and that we have hope because of what Jesus did for us. That Hope is Spiritual Empowerment. As we follow Christ, study the Word of God, meditate and do His Will, we are empowered spiritually. (Ref:Who was that Young Man: Voice DTS)

John 10:10b: I have come that you may have life and have it to the full. (NIV)

Let’s pray: Father in the Name of Jesus help us to understand that You have al-ready bore and buried our shame. You have covered us with Your glory and set us free. Therefore, we are free indeed. Thank you God for this great covering and the gift of freedom in You forever and for empowering us daily. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
