Rev. Dr. Reginald Woullard, Sr.

Rev. Dr. Reginald Woullard, the youngest child born to Rev. Dr. R.W. Woullard Jr. and Mrs. Annette Woullard, was born on October 1, 1956.

He entered the ministry in 1989 under the tutelage and nurturing of his father, the Rev. Dr. R.W. Woullard Jr. He was licensed and ordained by his father, becoming a fourth-generation minister.

On February 20, 2005, Rev. Dr. Reginald Woullard preached his first sermon as the pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Woullard followed in his father’s footsteps when he became the illustrious pastor of the Shady Grove Church located in the Eastabuchie community.
Pastor Woullard has been a Senior Pastor for 37 years; he has been preaching for 39 years.

Before coming to Shady Grove, Pastor Woullard’s other pastoral assignments included the following churches: Mary Magdalene Baptist Church of Eatonville, Good Hope Baptist Church of New Augusta, and Antioch Baptist Church of Hattiesburg.

He is a graduate of Hattiesburg Public Schools. God gifted Pastor Woullard with athletic abilities. Using those abilities, he attended the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) on a football scholarship, where he was a four-year letterman. His athletic prowess at Ole Miss led to his signing as a free agent with the New Orleans Saints in 1980. In 2024, Pastor Woullard was inducted into the Hattiesburg Public School Hall of Fame.

After returning home, he attended and graduated from William Carey University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He broadened the scope of his education with further studies at the University of Southern Mississippi. He served in the field of education as a teacher and coach for over 20 years before retiring in 2007.

Rev. Dr. Woullard received his Bachelor of Theology degree from Mississippi Baptist Seminary and did additional studies at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is a graduate of the Harvard Divinity School Summer Leadership Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He received his Master of Theology degree from the New Foundation Theological Seminary, and in May 2007 he received his Doctor of Theology degree.

Pastor Reginald Woullard was instrumental in the building of the Rev. Dr. R.W. Woullard Jr. Family Life Center, which opened in 2014. Additionally, a webcast of both the 7:45 am and the 10:45 am worship services can be seen each Sunday. A band, youth choir, and the addition of a transportation ministry were added.

In the first two years under Pastor’s Woullard’s leadership, the membership more than doubled. A youth minister and a ministry coordinator were added to the staff.
He is the visionary and architect of over 60 new ministries at Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Under Pastor Woullard’s leadership, Shady Grove has seen expansive growth in our people resources, our physical resources, our financial resources, and our real estate resources.
Shady Grove’s reach has been expanded on a worldwide basis, and we consider this our newest avenue for fulfilling the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.

Pastor Woullard, being led by the Holy Spirit, was instrumental in Shady Grove adopting Monrovia, Liberia, which included visiting and ministering in this West African country, digging wells for drinking water, bringing Bibles, medical supplies, clothing, remodeling and enlarging several churches and orphanages. In 2024, God blessed us to plant Shady Grove Baptist Church in Liberia, which will further the spreading of the Word.

Pastor Woullard is known for the creed he lives by: “The grass withereth, and the flower fadeth: but the Word of God shall stand forever.” (Isaiah 40:8 KJV)

He and his lovely wife, Lady Joyce, have four children, Dan’yelle, Reginald Jr, Isaiah, and Cameron; and one granddaughter, Laila.
